Composition dependent density of ternary aqueous solutions of ionic surfactants and salts

چکیده
Abstract Surfactants exist in atmospheric aerosols mixed with inorganic salts and can significantly influence the formation of cloud droplets due to bulk–surface partitioning surface tension depression. To model these processes, we need continuous parametrizations concentration dependent properties aqueous surfactant–salt solutions for full composition range from pure water surfactant or salt. We have developed density functions based on pseudo-separation method Young’s mixing rule apparent partial molal volumes that mimic marine environments. The framework requires only parameters binary water–salt water–surfactant systems includes effect salinity micellization composition-dependent critical micelle (CMC). evaluate different models data available literature find most suitable representations volume sodium chloride (NaCl) CMC selected surfactants NaCl solutions. compare results experimental data, obtained additional measurements, containing one ionic octanoate, decanoate, dodecanoate dodecylsulfate relative ratios. Our follows trends increasing densities concentrations ratios both, below above CMC, capturing salt micellization.

The adsorption kinetics of the cationic surfactant dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide at the air-water interface has been studied by the maximum bubble pressure method at concentrations below the critical micellar concentration. At short times, the adsorption is diffusion-limited. At longer times, the surface tension shows an intermediate plateau and can no longer be accounted for by a diffusion-...
متن کاملOn the Interaction of Insoluble Alkyl Alcohol Monolayers with Aqueous Solutions of Ionic Surfactants
The interaction between so-called alkyl alcohol (Cs-Cs) monolayers and aqueous solutions of ionic surfactants with different hydrophilic properties, i.e. calcium di-2-ethylhexyl sulfosuccinate and sodium dodecyl sulfate, has been studied with the help of a Langmuir-Adam film balance. A decrease or increase in surface pressure of the alkyl alcohol monolayers with the addition of surfactants is o...

The field of ionic aggregates finds its place a t the boundary between more classical topics in chemistry such as ion. fused salt, coordination and organometallic chemistry. Ionic aggregates are found in very different situations : unsolvated in the gas state, solvated in solid solvates and in solution. In the case of model compounds like LiBr and LiSCN we now have a complete knowledge on the s...
متن کاملThermodynamic quantities of surface formation of aqueous electrolyte solutions: IX. Aqueous solutions of ammonium salts.
The properties of aqueous ammonium salt solutions at the air/water surface are presented. By comparison of the properties of ammonium halides solutions with those of sodium halide, we note a close similarity, which indicates that the increments in surface tension may be explained in relation to the hydration enthalpy of anions. We find that the behaviors of the salts with nitrate anions which a...
